This file contains the following sections: * Criticality * Compatibility/Minimum Requirements * What Is Fixed in This Patch? * How the Patch Works * What this Package Contains * Installation * Uninstall ###################################################################### CRITICALITY ###################################################################### 1 - Highly recommended for Array Manager 3.5 installations on a PowerEdge 700 or 750 system with a CERC SATA 1.5/6ch controller. ###################################################################### COMPATIBILITY/MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS ###################################################################### The Array Manager 3.5 CERC SATA 1.5/6ch Patch should only be installed on a system that meets all of the following requirements: 1. The system is a PowerEdge 700 or 750. 2. The system is running a version of Microsoft Windows or Novell Netware. 3. The system has a CERC SATA 1.5/6ch controller. 4. The system has Array Manager Version 3.5 installed. * (Optional) Novell Client for Windows version 4.9 or later if you intend to map a drive to a NetWare system and copy the Array Manager patch media from the Windows system to the NetWare system. ###################################################################### WHAT IS FIXED IN THIS PATCH? ###################################################################### When running Array Manager on a PowerEdge 700 or 750 system with a CERC SATA1.5/6ch controller, Array Manager may not display disk status changes after the removal or failure of a disk. This problem is fixed by installing the Array Manager 3.5 CERC SATA 1.5/6ch Patch. ###################################################################### HOW THE PATCH WORKS ###################################################################### The patch installer stops the Array Manager Disk Management service and replaces the following: * On Windows the afaapi.dll and afaappse.dll files are replaced * On NetWare the amafa.nlm is replaced. The original files are saved with an .ORI extension. After these files are installed, the patch installer restarts the Disk Management service. ###################################################################### WHAT THIS PACKAGE CONTAINS ###################################################################### The download package contains the following files: * readme.txt. * The following files in the "Windows" subfolder - afaapi.dll - Updated Array Manager file. - afaappse.dll - Updated Array Manager file. - getsysinfo.dll - Patch support file. - patch.exe - Windows patch installer executable. * The following files in the "Netware" subfolder - nwpatch.ips - Netware patch installation file. - amafa.nlm - Updated Array Manager file. ###################################################################### INSTALLATION ###################################################################### To install the Array Manager 3.5 CERC SATA 1.5/6ch Patch: On a Microsoft Windows system: 1. Extract (unzip) the download package to a temporary directory. The default is c:\patch350 2. Open a command prompt and cd to the "Windows" subdirectory of the directory to which you unzipped the files. 3. The following options are available: (a) patch [no options] Prompts the user to continue, copies the new files, makes a backup of the originals and restarts the Disk Management Service. (b) patch /? Displays help. (c) patch /s Silent operation. Copies the new files, makes a backup of the originals and restarts the Disk Management service without any user interaction. (d) patch /norestart Prompts the user to continue, copies the new files, makes a back up of the originals and does not restart the Disk Management Service. (e) patch /s /norestart Does not restart the Disk Management service when in silent mode. 4. After the installation is complete, a message will display saying that the patch was applied successfully. In silent operation, no messages are displayed on the screen. On a Novell Netware system: 1. Copy the "Netware" subfolder from the extracted patch media to the Netware system. 2. Start the NetWare configuration utility by entering the following from the NetWare system console: nwconfig 3. Select Product Options and then Install product not listed. 4. Specify the full path to the directory containing the AMAFA.NLM and NWPATCH.IPS. Press "Enter" to launch the installation and follow the instructions to apply the patch. 5. After the installation is complete, a message will display saying that the patch was applied successfully. ###################################################################### UNINSTALL ###################################################################### To uninstall this patch, you must uninstall Array Manager 3.5. ###################################################################### Information in this document is subject to change without notice.
